Cold Turkey was the only way for me to go. I'd never get this far otherwise. It is all about learning to live again.

It has been 4 1/2 days for me. Don't get me wrong, it has been HARD! But, I wonder to myself all the time, "Why didn't I do this sooner?"...

I'm here to stay! | #45 | ||

Hi Freedom and thanks for letting me join you! This is my first post to the site and I couldn't feel better and more committed than ever...
I have smoked off and on for the past 10yrs since I was appx 20yrs old. This is not my first quit (I quit cold turkey in 2004 for 3yrs and 4mos). Alas, I didn't truly understand the nature of my addiction and I let my gaurd down under the delusion that just one puff wouldn't hurt...within months I was smoking full time again. I am so glad I discovered this community recently and I'm off and running with the final quit and I feel great today! - Free and Healing for Four Days, 7 Hours and 43 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 3 Hours, by avoiding the use of 43 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $12.80. |

Its been 5 days since I quit cold turkey and even though Im not as far as most people posting here, I know from here I will never touch a cigarette again
because I will always remember how happy I am now that Ive made it this far.
In the process of quiting smoking I learned that it really is all in the head. There's always a voice inside your head telling you you want to smoke and you feel like smoking but your consciousness gotta overcome that and think only of positive things like looking forward to officially being a nonsmoker. I also read a lot of testimonies online which encouraged me and motivated me to quit now. Dont think about when you want to quit. Just quit! |

I Love a Cold Turkey Parade | #50 | ||
|
How exciting to be joining this parade -- Joel is a mind reader!!
I turned the page on my calendar and WOW -- come 15 Nov 2009, it will be 6 years of wonderful smoke-free living for me. After many unsuccessful attempts to break my nicotine habit, I found WhyQuit.com!! Days later I jointed the Great American Smoke out and quit Cold Turkey. I struggled and with the help of Joel and the support I received from Freedom, I made it to the other side. Happy am I living nicotine free. I don't even think about smoking and now it's even hard to remember myself smoking! But I do know, with absolute certainty to Never Take Another Puff. yqs,
YakGirl ~ smoke-free 5 Years, 11 Months, 2 Weeks and 2 Days. I've saved $31,777.47 by not smoking 130,670 cigarettes. Better yet, not smoking has saved 1 Year, 2 Months, 3 Weeks, and 4 Days of my life. My Quit Date: 11/15/2003. |
