Dear Kit,
Thanks for giving everyone an update ~ you are such a brave lady! I guess you just do what you gotta do in order to save your life. I cannot imagine going into a battle like yours. When I had my brief skirmish with breast cancer last year I told I a friend that I just didn't know how people battle cancer for years . . . . you just DO IT, right?
You will be in my thoughts and prayers ~ I know what an inspiration you have been at this site. Hope to hear some good news from you soon . . .

Thank you Kim for keeping us apprised of how things are going. Every time I see a member who has been off for weeks or months coming in and posting of how hard of a time they are having because they are still having thoughts for a cigarette or even when I hear people writing about withdrawal complaints during the first few days of a quit I think of you and what you wrote in post last January titled Scheduled surgery date for removal of Kim's tumor. Your signature in that post read: Kim...................10 months +..... and wishing I was going through withdrawal instead of this!

This comment spoke volumes then and still does today. I hope everyone who reads of your experiences over the past 22 months realizes just how important the effort they are putting into quitting is. As I have written to you numerous times, quitting when you did is giving you a much better fighting chance of beating this thing but as we all can see you are having to endure a terrible fight.

People who are getting the benefit of learning from your experiences are hopefully taking the lessons you are sharing to heart. Quitting smoking is giving them the best chance of avoiding having to face the kind of pain and disruption that smoking induced illnesses can cause. The discomfort a person may feel from quitting pales in comparison to the suffering that they will feel if they develop any condition that smoking can cause. Again, we thank you for your continuing efforts to help others in avoiding such pain and misery by saving their health and their lives by staying totally committed to never take another puff!

Kim, I hope someone has some good news for you soon! You have been through enough, and to have the problem with your leg on top of everything else just isn't fair. Try not to get discouraged, dear friend! You will be in my thoughts.

My heart goes out to you - truly it does. I cannot convey the depth of sorrow I feel for all you have been through and for all you continue to bear. I am such a fearful and easily panicked person that I just cannot imagine how you are facing what you are - you are an incredibly strong and inspirational person.

It has now been 3 Weeks 3 Days 16 Hours 48 Minutes 56 Seconds since I changed the course of my life by giving up tobacco. My decision has already given me another 6 Days 20 Hrs 40 Mins 15 Secs to live and left me $123.50 that I would have spent on 988 cigarettes. I left behind an addiction that was stealing my health and ruining the quality of my life. How did I get so smart???.

I don't know if you've seen this .gif before, Kim, but it's one of my favorites. It deals with what's important and ignores the things that aren't. Today was meant to be lived and I have no doubt you're making the most of it. Let your spirit soar and always know that we're up there soaring with you, or standing if necessary, as the case may be! Thanks for the note from Kim. Reading her story and going to her web site on her journey the last yr. plus, has strengthened my belief that quitting was the right thing to do. It has been as of right now 1y 1h 25m 15s and counting!!! I love being able to track that, it gives me power knowing I am strong enough to keep it up and not take another puff. I love the statement "I won't take another puff" I tell people that all the time when I let them know I am still a quitter. It feels good to take pride in that. So I just wanted to thank you for encouraging me to quit and sending the e-mails, I believe it was a reminder similar to the one you just sent that put me on the right track and pushed that thought of "I should quit" to "I don't smoke anymore, I will never take another puff!
