Hello, friends!
I know that one of the biggest lies I told myself about quitting was "it isn't a good time". In fact, our friends and
family will even tell us it isn't a "good time" for us to quit, even though they may beg us daily to quit. They want us to be
successful.
I quit smoking on December 5th,and tore off the patch on December 9th after visiting whyquit. I had so many people tell me that now is
not a "good time". (Tallpapa quit ct at the same time...) We have just sold our house for less than we wanted and have to be out after Christmas.
So, we have tremendous financial worries, we have to pack years of "stuff", we have Christmas to share with our children and my parents are going
to stay here this year.... is it a "good time" to quit smoking? You betcha it is!
Smoking would only add to our financial woes. We don't have to take those annoying smoke breaks and head out into sub-zero weather
to feed our addiction. Our new neighbors will never know us as "those nice people who smoke..." And we won't have to listen to my ex-smoking
parents complain every time we head out for a smoke!
Any time is a "good time" to quit our addiction. It is what we make of it. In fact, I knew that I had made the best decision
of when to quit when an ex-smoking friend of mine asked, "Are you sure that you want to quit now, with all of the stressful things going on in your
lives?" And I replied, "Yes, of course. When aren't there stressful things going on in our lives?" Hopefully I can share with people the
important message that smoking does not take away from our stress, but only compounds it all. -Tallmama (halfway to green!)
